Dukes Wins 2009 Champ Camp Championship!
Dukes won its unprecedented fourth straight Champ Camp Championship on Sunday, July 26th, defeating Belax, 6-5, in the championship game at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field to cap off the 20th edition of the annual national lacrosse showcase.
With its fourth championship, Dukes joined Tri-State, champions in 1995, 1996, 1997, and 2000, as just the second team to win four Champ Camp Championships. Dukes has won 36 Champ Camp games in a row with its last loss coming in the 2005 championship game.
Belax was making its second appearance in a Champ Camp Championship game after dropping a 5-4 decision to Dukes in the 2006 title game.
This year's camp featured teams from 18 states, the District of
Columbia and the Canadian province of Ontario. Here were the group winners from pool play:
